Das Lionheart-Projekt verbindet bereits bestehende und kommerziell erprobte Technologien, um batteriefertiges Lithium aus der nat\u00fcrlich erhitzten, unterirdischen Thermalsole des Oberrheingrabens zu gewinnen. So soll f\u00fcr die europ\u00e4ische Batterieindustrie eine lokale Quelle f\u00fcr nachhaltiges Lithium geschaffen werden. Als Nebenprodukt entsteht dabei erneuerbare Energie, die f\u00fcr die W\u00e4rmeversorgung der umliegenden Region genutzt wird. Vulcans Produktions- und Verarbeitungsprozesse sind klimaneutral und nutzen keine fossilen Brennstoffe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-last-item\">Die angestrebten Produktionskapazit\u00e4t des Lionheart-Projekts sind 24.000 Tonnen Lithiumhydroxid-Monohydrat pro Jahr &#8211; eine Menge, die f\u00fcr die Produktion von rund 500.000 Elektrofahrzeug-Batterien ausreicht. F\u00fcr das Lionheart-Projekt wird eine kommerziellen Anlage f\u00fcr die kombinierte Gewinnung von geothermischer Energie und Lithium in Landau errichtet, die von mehreren Bohrpl\u00e4tzen aus der Region gespeist wird. Anschlie\u00dfend wird mithilfe der sogenannten adsorptionsbasierten direkten Lithiumextraktion (A\u2011DLE) Lithium aus der Thermalsole gewonnen. Dabei kommt Vulcans eigens entwickeltes Adsorptionsmittel VULSORB\u00ae zum Einsatz. Vulcan f\u00fchrt das Projekt in Zusammenarbeit mit BASF, einem der weltweit gr\u00f6\u00dften Chemiekonzerne, durch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-last-item\">Die 2D-Seismik wurde innerhalb der Vorderpfalz durchgef\u00fchrt und erstreckte sich auf eine Distanz von etwa 75 km. Die Vorderpfalz ist eine Region an der westlichen Grenze des Oberrheingrabens und umfasst die St\u00e4dte und Gemeinden Bad D\u00fcrkheim, Deidesheim, Mutterstadt, Frankenthal und Ludwigshafen. Die Ergebnisse der 2D-Seismik dienen der Ermittlung des oder der optimalen Standorte f\u00fcr die n\u00e4chste Entwicklungsphase von Vulcan.
