M\u00e4rz 2024.<\/strong> Im Rahmen der Geothermie-Fachmesse GeoTHERM fand am vergangenen Donnerstag, den 29. Februar, die Verleihung des Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Awards in Offenburg statt. Dabei wurde Vulcans Lithiumextraktionsoptimierungsanlage (LEOP), die zum ersten Mal weltweit gr\u00fcnes Lithium herstellen wird, von der EGEC (European Geothermal Energy Council) zum innovativsten Geothermie-Projekt des Jahres 2024 in Europa ernannt. Der Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award wird allj\u00e4hrlich auf der GeoTHERM-Messe verliehen und zeichnet Unternehmen aus, die mit innovativen Produkten, wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten oder Projektinitiativen einen bedeutenden Beitrag auf dem Gebiet der Geothermie geleistet haben. Die Kriterien, nach denen die f\u00fcnf nominierten Projekte bewertet wurden, sind Originalit\u00e4t, Innovation, Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit, Emissionsreduktion und Verbesserungen der Energieeffizienz.<\/p>\n<p>In der LEOP in Landau wird Vulcan die ersten Tonnen gr\u00fcnes Lithium in Europa herstellen. Die daf\u00fcr genutzte Ressource ist das lithiumreiche Thermalwasser aus dem Untergrund des Oberrheingrabens, welches an die Oberfl\u00e4che gepumpt und mithilfe der Direkten Lithiumextraktion durch Adsorption (A-DLE) aus dem Wasser gefiltert wird. Gleichzeitig wird die nat\u00fcrliche W\u00e4rme des Thermalwassers zur Erzeugung Erneuerbarer Energie genutzt. So kann einerseits der Lithiumextraktionsprozess dekarbonisiert werden und andererseits Erneuerbare Energie in Form von W\u00e4rme, Strom und K\u00e4lte f\u00fcr die Region bereitgestellt werden. Die klimaneutrale Lithiumproduktion stellt ein weltweites Novum in der Lithiumindustrie dar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eEs ist uns eine gro\u00dfe Ehre mit dem Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award f\u00fcr das innovativste Geothermie-Projekt des Jahres 2024 ausgezeichnet zu werden. Das Thermalwasser aus dem Oberrheingraben bietet uns die M\u00f6glichkeit gleich zwei wichtige Produkte f\u00fcr die gr\u00fcne Transformation Europas zu gewinnen \u2013 Erneuerbare Energie f\u00fcr eine erfolgreiche W\u00e4rmewende und klimaneutrales Lithium f\u00fcr die deutsche und europ\u00e4ische Automobilindustrie. Die Lithiumextraktion in der LEOP ist dabei ein bedeutender Schritt, um eine gr\u00fcne und inl\u00e4ndische Lithium-Lieferkette in Europa aufzubauen.
