Siemens Awarded Major Technology Contract for Vulcan's Lionheart Project
Vulcan Energy has signed a major framework agreement with Siemens AG for the supply of engineering, automation and digital technology systems for the Lionheart Project in Germany's Upper Rhine Valley.

Vulcan Energy has entered into a framework agreement valued at approximately €40 million with Siemens AG, covering the supply of engineering, automation, telecommunications and building technology systems for the Company's flagship Lionheart Project.
The agreement strengthens the long-standing collaboration between the two companies and represents the final major supply agreement required for Phase One Lionheart, following the completion of other key project contracts throughout 2025.
Lionheart is an integrated lithium and renewable energy project being developed in Germany's Upper Rhine Valley. Once operational, Phase One is designed to produce 24,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide monohydrate annually, enough for approximately 500,000 electric vehicle batteries each year, while also generating renewable electricity and heat for local communities and industry.
Under the agreement, Siemens will serve as the Main Automation Contractor (MAC) for several critical project facilities, including:
The Lithium Extraction Plant in Landau
The Central Lithium Plant at Industriepark Höchst in Frankfurt
Production well sites across the project area
Siemens will provide automation and control systems, industrial networking and cybersecurity infrastructure, building automation technologies, safety systems, and associated engineering and lifecycle services.
The partnership builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2025 that established Siemens as a preferred supplier for Lionheart and future development phases through to 2035.
The agreement also complements Siemens Financial Services' participation in Vulcan's broader financing package for Phase One Lionheart.
Vulcan Energy Managing Director and CEO Cris Moreno said:
"The signing of this framework agreement with Siemens AG builds on our established partnership with the broader Siemens group and our shared commitment to innovation and industrial excellence.
Siemens brings extensive experience delivering engineering, automation and digital technology solutions to complex industrial projects, as well as a strong local presence in Germany and the Upper Rhine Valley region.
With construction underway and all major supply agreements now in place, we are working alongside our partners to deliver Lionheart and advance Europe's domestic lithium supply chain."
The agreement further de-risks project execution and supports the delivery of a fully integrated lithium production and renewable energy operation in the heart of Europe.
