Felicity Gooding joins Vulcan

Gina Rinehart-backed lithium play Vulcan Energy Resources has hired one of Andrew Forrest’s former key lieutenants as its chief financial officer.

Felicity Gooding joins Vulcan six months after quitting as finance chief at Fortescue Limited’s clean energy arm, then known as Fortescue Future Industries.

Ms Gooding served in fix-it roles and executive positions within Dr Forrest’s business empire for almost a decade before her shock resignation. She has held key posts at the Forrest family Minderoo philanthropic foundation, its Tattarang private business empire, and Fortescue at different times.

She joins Vulcan as it looks to secure funding for its €1.4 billion ($2.29 billion) project in Germany aimed at using geothermal energy in the production of 24,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide a year.

Vulcan is backed by carmaker Stellantis, the owner of brands like Chrysler, Jeep and Alfa Romeo, which owns 7 per cent of the stock. Mrs Rinehart owns 5 per cent and her son, John Hancock, 3 per cent.
